Business partners Alan Alderfer and Mike Bergen established the KC Riley Kids Fund to benefit Riley Children’s Hospital and to help assist area families served by Riley. Alan’s daughter, Katherine, and Mike’s son, Ben, both received medical care from Riley.

The funds held by the Community Foundation are as varied as the donors who establish them and are truly a reflection of our mission to “make donor dreams shine.”

Finding a Fund

Funds are listed alphabetically by the donor’s last name, or the main word in the fund name. They are also listed by cause. Please choose from an option below to begin your search.

Fund Types

A letter or letters will appear after each fund name indicating the fund type. Fund types are as follows:

(C) Community Funds – Meet emerging needs. Income from these funds is usually granted in response to grant applications from area not-for-profit organizations.

(F) Field of Interest Funds – Specify that income from the fund is to support a donor’s particular area of concern, such as the arts, education, care of the elderly or environment without naming a specific organization to which grants will be made.

(S) Scholarship Funds – Provide financial assistance for tuition, books and academic fees to help students achieve their educational dreams.

(A) Advised Funds – Allow a donor or committee to recommend grant recipients to the Community Foundation’s Board of Directors, which makes the final grant-making decisions in accordance with Treasury regulations.

(Ag) Agency Funds – Created by a not-for-profit organization to provide a stream of income for their organization.

(D) Designated Funds – Benefit a specific not-for-profit organization. Typically, a donor establishes a designated fund to benefit a favorite organization.

(+) Charitable Trusts and Gift Annuities – Charitable Remainder and Charitable Lead Trusts meet a donor’s charitable dreams while providing a lifetime income for the donor or the donor’s spouse, children or grandchildren.

(*) Indicates a non-permanent fund.

Making a Gift to a Fund

If you wish to make a gift to any of the funds already established at the Community Foundation, you may make a check payable to the Kosciusko County Community Foundation and write the name of the fund in the memo line, or you can donate online and specify the fund name as part of the online giving form.

Catherine Abbitt / Jefferson School Memorial Scholarship fund (S) – Created with gifts from Cathy’s friends and family after her death from cancer. Cathy was a third grade teacher at Jefferson Elementary School. Scholarships from this fund help Jefferson Elementary School alumni pursue their college dreams.

ACRES Endowment Fund (Ag) – Created to support the mission and work of ACRES Land Trust in northeast Indiana for the preservation of natural areas, environmental education, scientific study and public enjoyment.

Ag Cares Fund (F) – Created to support food programs, youth program, and charitable agricultural related activities in Kosciusko County.

AgrIInstitute Fund of Kosciusko County (D) – Created by area farmers, Bob and Waneta Bishop, to support the work of the AgrIInstitute, an Indiana organization providing leadership training in agriculture.

American Association of University Women Scholarship Fund (S)– Established by the American Association of University Women’s Warsaw branch to provide scholarship assistance to a non-traditional female student residing in Kosciusko County.

American Teen Scholarship (S) – Created with gifts from Paramount Vantage and Warsaw Community High School in celebration of the movie “American Teen”, which debuted in theaters in 2008 and featured the lives of Warsaw Community High School students during their senior year.

Jeremiah J. Anglin Memorial Fund (A) – Established by John “Jack” Anglin in memory of his grandson, Jeremiah. Grants from the fund are advised by family members.

Animal Welfare League Fund (Ag) – Established to support AWL’s goals to prevent cruelty to animals and relieve their suffering.

The Dr. John E. Arford & Harriet E. Arford Family Charitable Endowment (A) – Established by the Arford’s to help give back to organizations that played important roles in their lives, the First United Methodist Church and the Warsaw Christian School.

Cecil Armstrong Educational Endowment (S) – Mr. Armstrong established this scholarship to assist those who were in financial need and who had a desire to gain the education and skills needed to pursue a career.

Ghean M. Arnolt Education/Philanthropic/Opportunities Endowment #1 (A) – Created by Ghean Arnolt through a Charitable Lead Trust to provide support to organizations that provide assistance to minorities or that provide educational opportunities.

*ArtFULLY Warsaw Fund (F) – Established by an anonymous donor to support the Warsaw Public Arts Commission to bring permanent or temporary art displays to the Warsaw community and to bring events supporting the arts.

Atwood Community Building Fund (D) – Established by the congregation of the Atwood Aldersgate United Methodist Church to support the Atwood Community Building.

Avalon Community Fund (C) – Created by Rita Schobert Snyder to meet the changing needs of Kosciusko County. Rita is a former Community Foundation board member and understands the importance of Community Funds in meeting diverse needs and improving quality of life for all residents.

Baker Youth Clubs Equipment Endowment Fund (Ag) – Established to provide for the equipment needs of this youth serving agency.

Baker Youth Clubs Operating Endowment Fund (Ag) – Established to support the mission of this youth serving agency.

Jimmy Baker Memorial Diabetes Fund (F) – Established by the Warsaw 802 Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks in memory of their long-time member, Jimmy Baker. The fund will help needy individuals with assistance for their treatment of diabetes.

Archibald (Arch) and Della Baumgartner Community Fund (C) – This fund was established by Ron Baumgartner in memory of his parents, Arch and Della Baumgartner to meet the changing needs of the community, forever. Arch Baumgartner took over the reins of The Milford Mail in 1939. He and his wife, Della, operated The Paper’s Inc. for many years – a company that is now owned and managed by their son, Ron, and which produces 25 publications and provides commercial printing. Ron is a Community Foundation board member. The gift that established this fund was matched by Lilly Endowment Inc. as part of the GIFT VI initiative.

*Be a Light Upon My Path Fund (A) – Established through a gift of stock for the purpose of supporting charitable projects impacting people living and working in and around Kosciusko County and throughout the United States.

*Be Beautiful Feet – Romans 10:15 Fund (A) – Established by anonymous donors to support charitable projects that align with their values.

Fred and Nedra Beebe Scholarship Endowment (S) – Established by Nedra Beebe to assist qualified students in attaining a post secondary education.

The Helen and Carl Berkey Educational Endowment (S) – Provides scholarships or loans to worthy high school graduates who need financial assistance to obtain higher education.

The Everett and Fern Besson Memorial Scholarship Fund (S) – Established by Thomas and Janet Tucker and Judy Bowerman in memory of their parents, Everett and Fern Besson. This scholarship shall provide financial assistance to deserving students who are pursuing post secondary education in the area of agriculture.

Ben Bibler Body for LIFE Memorial Scholarship Fund (S) – Created in memory of Ben Bibler who won the Most Inspirational Award from Body for LIFE after his death. This scholarship is awarded to a Kosciusko County resident who has overcome obstacles and is pursuing higher education.

Scott “Bibs” Bibler Memorial Scholarship Fund (S) – This fund was established by Stephanie Bibler in memory of her beloved husband to celebrate and encourage student athletes of strong character and with servants’ hearts to pursue careers in education.

Bibs Memorial Fund (F) – This fund was established by Stephanie Bibler in memory of her beloved husband, Scott “Bibs” Bibler, to provide assistance to underprivileged children who desire to participate in educational, cultural and musical activities or who may be in need of counseling.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Indiana Fund (Ag) – Established to support the mission of this mentorship-based youth serving agency.

Bishop Family Agriculture Endowment Fund (A) – Established by area farmers, Bob and Waneta Bishop, to support charitable projects and organizations that align with their values. Bob is a Community Foundation board member.

Blackburn and McFadden Fund (C) – Created by Jim and Deb McFadden in honor of their parents, Max and Betty Blackburn and Orville and Vanoma McFadden. This fund will meet the changing needs of Kosciusko County. Jim was a Community Foundation board member.

Board of Directors Community Endowment Fund (C) – Established by the board and staff of the Community Foundation.

*Board Rapid Response Fund (C) – Established to enable the Community Foundation’s Board of Directors the flexibility to respond quickly to urgent community needs.

Lisa Anne (Boggs) Fawley Memorial Scholarship Fund (S) – Established by the parents of Lisa, Robert and Marita Boggs, to award scholarships to graduates of Tippecanoe Valley High School (TVHS). Lisa was a 1975 graduate of TVHS, Grace College and Manchester University. She taught physical education in the Manchester and Tippecanoe Valley school systems and coached gymnastics and track. Lisa never allowed her physical challenges to stop her from achieving her goals. She served as an inspiration to many that nearly any obstacle could be overcome.

Darrell Boling Memorial Scholarship Fund (S) – Created by family and friends of Darrell, who was a longtime teacher in the Warsaw School Corporation, a member of the American Legion, Warsaw Kiwanis, and Retired Teacher’s Association.

*Will and Kristi Boren Charitable Fund (A) – Created by the Borens to support charitable causes and organizations that will impact our community.

Bott Science Scholarship Fund (S) – Mike Bott dedicated 35 years to teaching and coaching in the Warsaw school system. Mike’s family, friends, colleagues and community members wished to continue his teaching legacy by establishing this fund.

Jay Bower Estate Endowment for United Way of Kosciusko County (D) – Established through a bequest in Jay Bower’s Will.

The Priscilla and George Bowser Educational Endowment (S) – Awards scholarships to worthy high school graduates who need financial assistance in order to obtain higher education or training.

Boys & Girls Club of Kosciusko County Fund (Ag) – Established to support the mission of this youth serving organization.

Steve Bradford Memorial Fund to Assist Kosciusko County Children (F) – Established in memory of Steve Bradford by his friends and family to benefit Kosciusko County children in need.

John R. and Joan Bradway Fund (A) – The Bradways established this fund to provide support for local charitable projects. Their three children act as the advisors to this fund.

John R. Bradway & Joan Bradway Endowment for the Atwood Aldersgate Church & the Etna Green United Methodist Church (D) – Established by the Bradways to provide support for two churches that were important in their lives.

Edward and Huldah Brandenburg Charitable Endowment (F) – This fund was established with the transfer of a trust from a bank to the Community Foundation. Grants from this fund will support charitable organizations engaged in medical investigation, research or treatment in accordance with the wishes of the Brandenburgs.

Edward and Huldah Brandenburg Scholarship Endowment (S) – The Brandenburg Scholarship Trust was established in 2006 by Ed and Huldah Brandenburg to provide financial assistance to students pursuing higher education studies.  The Brandenburgs created a strong bond with the Kosciusko County Multi-Township EMS and throughout their lives donated funds in support of the organization.  Preference is given to students pursuing higher education in the medical field.

Breakfast Optimist Club of Warsaw, IN Scholarship Fund (S) – Established by the Warsaw Breakfast Optimists to fulfill their mission “Friend to Youth.” The scholarships are awarded to Warsaw area students.

Howard and Myra Brembeck Fund (A) – Created by the Brembecks to support charitable organizations and projects that are important to them.

Robert E. and Susan R. Brennan Scholarship Fund (S) – Created in memory of Bob Brennan, a local pharmacist and community leader, by his wife, Sue Brennan. Awards are presented to Warsaw High School seniors and past recipients pursuing a career in music or pharmacy.

Payton David Brettell Memorial Scholarship Fund (S) – Established by David and Nova Brettell in memory of their son, Payton David Brettell, who was 18-months-old when he passed away on August 6, 2012. The fund will provide a scholarship for a graduate of Warsaw or Wawasee High School who is entering into a medical degree program with the intent to provide pediatric medical care.

Jo and Doyle Butler Charitable Gift Annuity (+) – Established by Jo and Doyle Butler to accomplish their charitable goals.

Camelot Scholarship Fund (S) – Created by the Shoop Sports and Youth Foundation in memory of their founder, J. Homer Shoop, to provide scholarships to needy and deserving graduates from Wawasee, Whitko or Warsaw High Schools.

Camp Mack Operations Endowment Fund (Ag) – Established to support the mission of this Christian camp, conference and retreat center.

Cardinal Center Endowment Fund (Ag) – Established to support the mission of this community based organization that provides services to people with disabilities or other needs.

David L. Carey Memorial Scholarship Fund (S) – Friends and family of Dave, a business owner who was active in community service, created this fund to award scholarships to Wawasee High School seniors pursuing education at a vocational or technical school.

Neal and Joy Carlson Community Fund (C) – Established by Neal and Joy Carlson to meet the changing needs of our community,k forever. The gift that established this fund was matched by Lilly Endowment Inc. as part of their GIFT VI matching initiative.

Neal and Joy Carlson CRT (+) – Will fund charities important to the Carlsons.

Carlson Family Educational Fund (S) – Neal and Joy Carlson established this scholarship fund to provide financial assistance to needy and deserving students who are in their junior or senior year of college, seeking degrees in elementary education or special education. The Carlsons established this fund in honor of their family members who have made careers in the education of children and youth.

*The Castaldi Family Memorial Fund (D) – Created by the Castaldi family to support the City of Warsaw for engineering and construction of a water feature at Center Lake, in memory of Lawrence J. and Ruth J. Castaldi, as part of the Buffalo Street renovation.

Celebration Gift Fund (C) – Created by an anonymous donor to support unrestricted grant making in the community.

Child Care Compensation Fund (F) – Established by the Dekko Foundation to recognize the educational achievement attained by child care providers.

The William J. and Louese B. Chinworth Scholarship Fund (S) – Endows the Chinworth Award, presented annually to a Warsaw senior who, by vote of school faculty, has made the most of his or her opportunities. Mr. Chinworth was a Warsaw businessman, and Mrs. Chinworth was an accomplished artist and musician.

The City-County Athletic Complex, Inc. Endowment (Ag) – Established to support the mission of this 65+ acre sports and recreation facility.

Claypool Knights Legacy Scholarship (S) – The Parent Teacher Council of Claypool School established this scholarship to provide assistance to worthy and needy students who reside in Clay Township in Kosciusko County and who have graduated from Warsaw Community High School.

*Clevenger Charitable Fund (A) – This fund was established by Jerry and Shirlee Clevenger to advise grants to charitable projects and organizations that align with their values. Shirlee is a retired teacher. Jerry owns Clevenger Insurance Agency and is a former Community Foundation board member.

Reuben F. and Betty Jane Clover Charitable Fund (D) – Created by Betty Jane Clover as part of her estate planning to provide financial support to charities that were important to her including: Plain Township Fire Department, Kosciusko County Animal Shelter, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, Leesburg United Methodist Church and the Town of Leesburg.

Combined Community Services Endowment Fund (Ag) – Established to support their mission of combining community services to provide comfort, hope and resources for neighbors in need.

Community Funds (C) – Gift to this fund enable the Community Foundation to meet emerging needs in Kosciusko County, usually in response to grant applications from area nonprofits.

*Community Scholarship Enhancement Fund (D) – Created with money remaining from Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship funds for the purpose of promoting scholarships and higher education in Kosciusko County, Indiana.

Daniel and Jane Coplen Charitable Endowment Fund (A) – Established by Daniel and Jane Coplen to enable them to advise grants to charitable organizations that serve worthy and needy people and that further meet the Coplens’ charitable goals.

*Deborah M. Cooley Memorial Scholarship (S) Patricia and George Lenke established this fund in memory of Patricia’s mother, Deborah Cooley. Scholarships will help students pursuing nursing, physical therapy, radiology medical technology or pharmacy degrees.

Court Appointed Special Advocate Fund (Ag) – Established to support their mission to speak in the best interest of children who are at risk for abuse and neglect.

Donny R. Craw Memorial Scholarship Fund (S) Established by Alice Lykins in memory of her nephew, Don Craw. Don taught Spanish in the Tippecanoe Valley school system. Scholarship awards benefit students from Tippecanoe Valley.

*Creighton Brothers Charitable Fund (A) – Created to facilitate Creighton Brothers charitable giving program. Grants are recommended by an advisory committee.

Eddie and Louise Creighton Family Fund (A) – Established by Eddie and Louise Creighton to provide support to public charities impacting the people living and working in and around Kosciusko County.

Dekko Enhancement Fund (C) – Established by the Dekko Foundation.

*Delta Theta Tau Scholarship Fund (S) – This fund was created by the Delta Theta Tau Sorority, Beta Zeta Chapter, to assist students who are accepted into and attend accredited two or four year institutions of higher learning in their pursuit of dental-related study.

DePuy Memorial Scholarship Fund (S) – The initial gifts to this scholarship fund were given by DePuy employees and friends in memory of long-time DePuy employee, Trudy Bradford. Scholarships from this fund will help the children or step-children of DePuy employees reach their educational dreams.

Phil Dick Memorial Grace College Women’s Softball Scholarship Fund (D) – Created by Becky Dick in memory of her husband, Phil, a Grace College graduate who returned to his alma mater as the Athletic Director and coached softball from 1981 to 1994. This fund provides athletic scholarships to Grace College Women’s Softball players.

Dixie Sternwheeler, Inc. Fund (Ag) – This fund was established by Dixie Sternwheeler, Inc. to provide support enabling the preservation of this historic watercraft.

Byron C. Doran and Jo Ann Doran Charitable Endowment (C) – Established by Jo Ann Doran to meet the community’s emerging needs.

Dos Abuelas Fund (A) – Established by Marlene Mulero Betances and Robert Betances to honor their grandmothers and to support charitable projects that align with their values. Marlene is a Community Foundation board member.

Berniece Hollar Dwyer Charitable Endowment (S) – This fund was established to provide scholarship assistance to students at Bethel College, Mishawaka, Indiana.

The William and Helen Dye Endowment Fund (A) – Provides support to charitable organizations providing services to residents of Kosciusko County.

Georgianna Easterday/Tri Kappa Scholarship Fund (D) – Created by the Alpha Lambda Chapter of Kappa Kappa Kappa, Inc. (Tri Kappa) to provide support to their scholarship purposes in memory of Georgianna Easterday.

The Megan Easterday – Harrison Elementary Scholarship (S) – Established by Megan’s parents, Larry and Anne Easterday and many community members. This endowment provides scholarships to qualified graduating seniors who attended Harrison Elementary School.

Mary O. Elsbury Memorial Scholarship Endowment (S) – Provides scholarships to needy and deserving adults and other students who need financial assistance to gain education beyond high school.

Etna Green Community Fund (A) – Established to meet the needs of the Etna Green community with a primary focus on parks and recreation.

*Etna Green Museum Fund (D) – Established to support the Etna Green Museum in its efforts to preserve the history of Etna Green.

The Evergreen Fund (A) – Established by anonymous donors for the purpose of supporting charitable organizations and purposes.

William E. Farrar Memorial Scholarship Fund (S) – This scholarship fund was created by family and friends of William Farrar in his memory. Mr. Farrar served as a principal in the Warsaw school system. His love of learning will live on through this fund in his name.

Archie and Betty Ferguson Community Endowment Fund (C) – Established with a gift of real estate to meet the changing needs of the community, forever. The gift that established this fund was matched by Lilly Endowment Inc. as part of their GIFT VI matching initiative.

Archie and Betty Ferguson Workforce Skills Scholarship Fund (S) – Established with a gift of real estate to provide scholarships and grants to Kosciusko County residents who have financial need with preference given to students who are re-entering the workforce, are currently underemployed or who are changing careers and require additional skills, education or training.

Jerry and Norma Ferguson Community Fund (C) – Established by Jerry and Norma Ferguson to meet the changing needs of Kosciusko County, forever.

Robert and Julia Ferguson Scholarship Fund (S) – Established in memory of the Fergusons, who were longtime Warsaw residents.

Edson L. Finkenbiner and Valencia V. Finkenbiner Endowment CRT (+) – Will fund charities important to the Finkenbiners.

*Firefighter’s Communication Fund (D) – Established as a result of intensive study through a Kosciusko Leadership Academy white paper project to address the urgent communication challenges for firefighters as a result of narrowing radio band widths and out county’s varied topography.

First United Methodist Church Endowment Fund in Memory of Marilyn Phillips (D) – Given in memory of Marilyn, by her husband Darrell, to provide the First United Methodist Church in Warsaw funds for educational purposes.

Fostering Hope Endowment Fund (F) – Created to provide life enriching medical treatments and extracurricular activities to children in the Kosciusko County foster care system.

Donald and Mildred Frantz Discretionary Endowment Fund (C) – Established by the late Don Frantz, and his wife, Mildred. Don was a Foundation board member.

Ralph and Lucetta Frantz Scholarship Fund (S) – Resulted from a charitable remainder trust in which Ralph Frantz provided his sister, Lucetta, with a life income. At her death, the Community Foundation received the remainder interest to be used for scholarships to Kosciusko County residents.

Dorothy Frauhiger Memorial Art Scholarship (S) – Established by Mrs. Frauhiger’s family to award an annual scholarship in her memory to a Warsaw Community High School graduating senior.

Herman Frauhiger Memorial Community Fund (C) – Created by an anonymous donor in memory of Herman Frauhiger. Mr. Frauhiger had a humble beginning but became a successful businessman and property manager in the Warsaw area. The gift that established this fund was matched by Lilly Endowment Inc as part of their GIFT VI matching initiative.

John S. Frederich Endowment Fund (C) – Established by former Board member, John Frederich.

Lance Cpl. David Fribley Memorial Scholarship Fund (S) – This fund was established by many donors in memory of David Fribley, who died serving his country in Iraq on March 23, 2003. The fund provides scholarships to county students who are pursuing education beyond high school.

Wayne E. and Phyllis J. Fribley Fund (D) – Established by Warsaw-based real estate holding company, B.S. Gold and Associates LLC, in memory of Wayne and Phyllis Fribley to assist students with certain medical conditions.

*The Dennis and Kimberly Fuller Charitable Fund (A) – Denny and Kim Fuller established this fund so they could advise grants to their church and other charitable organizations with which their values align.

*The Fuller Family Charitable Fund (A) – Denny and Kim Fuller established this fund through the gift of their business property, Little Crow Foods, to the Community Foundation. The Fullers advise grants from this fund to charities that align with their values.

Edward B. & Mary Edith Funk Educational Endowment (S) – A result of a bequest from the Funk family. Earnings are awarded annually through scholarships.

The Gasaway Education Fund (S) – Created by Anabelle Gasaway in tribute to her husband Dr. Gasaway, a dentist in Warsaw. Anabelle was a PE teacher and an active volunteer for the Girl Scouts and the hospital. This fund aids area students in obtaining a higher education.

The Helen and Dave Gast Endowment (C) – Established by Dave Gast to meet the community’s emerging needs.

Robert and Ann Gephart Memorial Fund (C) – Established by Ann Gephart in memory of her husband, Robert Gephart. Mr. Gephart was a Community Foundation board member and a long-time scholarship volunteer. The gift that established this fund was matched by Lilly Endowment Inc. as part of their GIFT VI matching initiative.

Merl M. and Jean M. Gibson Scholarship Fund (S) – Established by Jean and Merl Gibson for the purpose of providing post-secondary, undergraduate scholarship assistance to deserving students who are residents of Kosciusko County.

*The Gift that Gives Fund (F) – Established by an anonymous donor to facilitate gifts to any endowment fund at the Community Foundation in honor or memory of someone.

Gill Family Charitable Endowment (D) – Created by Calvin and Sue Gill to provide support to St. Anne’s Episcopal Church in Warsaw and to fund three different scholarship funds at the Community Foundation including one for students studying veterinary medicine, one for students pursuing a vocational degree or certificate, and a general scholarship.

The Robert T. and Emma Gilliam Memorial Fund Endowment (S) – Florence Gilliam Clark created this scholarship fund in tribute to her parents, Robert and Emma Gilliam, to aid area students in obtaining higher education.

Glover Family Fund (A) – Established through a Charitable Remainder Trust, this advised fund provided Richard and Evelyn Glover the opportunity to recommend grants to charitable organizations and projects during their lifetime, and continues to provide their daughter with the opportunity to recommend grants to charitable projects that are meaningful to her.

Glover Operating Endowment (D) – Created by Richard Glover, the Kosciusko County Community Foundation’s initial chairperson, and his wife Evelyn.

Good Samaritan Fund (F) – Established by Ethel Vandermark to help families in medical crisis.

Grace Village Retirement Community Endowment Fund (Ag) – Established by Grace Village to support their mission to enable older adults to live to their fullest potential in the security of a Christian environment.

Chauncey L. Griffith Educational Fund (S) – Established by Helen Griffith through a bequest in her will in memory of her father, Chauncey, to provide scholarships to area students.

Bruce and Jeanne Grossnickle Family Foundation Fund (A) – Established through the transfer of assets from the Grossnickle Family Foundation to the Community Foundation. Bruce and Jeanne recommend grants that align with their charitable goals and values to the Foundation’s Board of Directors. Jeanne is a former Community Foundation board member.

The Fund provides scholarships for students who are pursuing study in the performing arts.

*Phillip D. Hochstetler Scholarship Fund (S) – This scholarship was established by the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department to honor Phillip Hochstetler, a detective killed in the line of duty. Scholarships from this fund are awarded to Kosciusko County graduating seniors planning to attend college to study criminal justice.

*Sarah Hogan Memorial Award for Mental Attitude (S) – Created to honor the memory of Sarah Hogan, this award is presented to a member of the Warsaw High School Choir who demonstrates a positive mental attitude. The Choir Department recommends the award recipient.

Deborah Hohman Animal Care Scholarship Fund (S) – Established to provide scholarships to graduates of Warsaw or Tippecanoe Valley schools to pursue a career in small animal care, or to help with the equipment needs of those desiring to work in small animal care.

Hollar Family Community Fund (C) – Established by Community Foundation board member, Jennifer Hollar, and her husband, Steve, to meet needs in Kosciusko County, now and forever.

Kelby Jones Technology Fund (D) – Established by Eric Sorenson in memory of his co-worker, Kelby Jones, a Warsaw Community Schools (WCS) District Technician, to provide support to WCS for the technology needs of students.

Teresa K. Jones Memorial Scholarship (S) – Given in memory of their beloved daughter by the late Mr. and Mrs. Jones to award a scholarship to a female student graduating from Warsaw Community Schools. A committee of Teri Jones’ former classmates recommends the annual recipient.

Junior Achievement Endowment for Kosciusko County (D) – Provides support to Junior Achievement to help them teach children how they can impact the world around them as individuals, workers and consumers.

K21 Health Foundation Scholarship Endowment Fund (S) – The Kosciusko 21st Century Foundation established this endowment fund to provide scholarship assistance to students who are pursuing a field of study in nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, as a radiology technician or a medical technician.

The Thomas E. Kelson & Harriet Searls Kelson Endowment Fund (D) – Provides annual income to the church the Kelson family attended.

The Kay A. Kindig Memorial Scholarship (S) – Established by friends and family in Kay Kindig’s memory, this fund provides scholarship assistance to needy and deserving graduates of Tippecanoe Valley High School.

Dan Kinsey Memorial Scholarship (S) – Friends and family of Dan Kinsey established this scholarship in his memory. Dan was a native of Warsaw. He taught English and was involved in many extracurricular activities at McCutcheon High School in West Lafayette, Indiana. Scholarships assist graduating seniors of McCuthcheon High School, with special consideration given to those majoring in education.

*Kosciusko 21st Century Foundation Good Samaritan Fund (D) – Established by the K21 Foundation to complement the Good Samaritan permanent fund established by the late Ethel Vandermark, which gives assistance to Kosciusko County residents in financial crisis due to a medical condition.

Kosciusko Civil Services Fund (F) – Established with a gift from Multi-township EMS Corporation to provide charitable support to Kosciusko County and nearby communities to provide assistance to fire departments, law enforcement and emergency services, and to meet needs related to emergencies. Examples of grants from this fund could include but are not limited to education or training related to civil services, 911 Dispatch Center equipment, defibrillators, police and fire protective gear, emergency sheltering, tornado sirens, and ambulance equipment.

Kosciusko Community YMCA Endowment Fund (Ag) – Established by the YMCA to help support their mission to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.

Kosciusko County 4-H Endowment Fund (Ag) – Established to support the mission of this youth serving educational organization.

Kosciusko County Boy Scouts Endowment (D) – Established by Eddie Creighton to support the mission of Boy Scouts.

*The Kosciusko REMC Operation Round Up Program Fund (A) – Participating members of KREMC agree to have their monthly electric bills rounded up to the nearest dollar. *McDonald Memorial Scholarship Fund (S) – Dr. Angus C. McDonald came to Warsaw in 1892. He established the first hospital in Warsaw, and was one of the founders and the first president of Bakers’ Boys Club.

Selma McKrill Brown Educational Fund (S) – Realizing the benefits of higher education and the cultivation of individual talents, Selma Brown generously created the Selma McKrill Brown Educational Trust.  This scholarship benefits worthy students from Kosciusko County.

Mentone Community Fund (A) – This fund was created by Rita Price Simpson to benefit charitable projects and organizations serving her beloved home town community of Mentone, Indiana. Mrs. Simpson serves on the Community Foundation’s Board of Directors.

Kenneth and Cecile Parks Memorial Scholarship for Nursing (S) – Created by Gerald and Sherry Smalley in memory of Sherry’s parents, Kenneth and Cecile Parks. The fund shall provide scholarship assistance to needy and deserving students who have graduated from Tippecanoe Valley or Warsaw School Corporation and are seeking degrees in the field of nursing.

Pequignot Donor Development Endowment (D) – This endowment was established by Stan Pequignot, a former Community Foundation board member, to provide funding for donor recognition activities.

Bruce V. Petro and Janet H. Petro Education Endowment (S) – Established by Bruce and Janet Petro, in honor of Bruce’s parents, Dresdon and Dortha Hammer Petro, to provide scholarships for needy and worthy students who intend to pursue teaching.

Frank and Virginia Putt Endowment Fund (D) – Established by the Humane Society of Kosciusko County, Inc. to prevent cruelty to animals by providing for the care and treatment of stray, lost, abandoned and unwanted animals or to support public education on the humane treatment of animals.

Quaker Haven Foundation Endowment Fund (D) – Established by Quaker Haven Foundation to provide an income stream to support Quaker Haven Camp in its mission to help people develop a closer relationship with God through the framework of Quaker ideals and the Friends way.

June Reed Nursing Scholarship Fund (S) – The Kosciusko County Nurse’s Association awards an annual nurse’s scholarship from funds raised in memory of June Reed, R.N., M.S.N., Ph.D.

*Rex and Barbara Reed Donor Advised Fund (A) – Established by former Community Foundation board member and retired judge, Rex Reed, and Barbara Reed to advise grants to charitable projects and organizations that align with their values.

Right to Life of North Central Indiana Endowment Fund (Ag) – Established to support their mission to help people understand that all human life is precious, from conception to natural death.

The B. Franklin and Eleanore Ringle Educational Endowment (S) – The Ringles believed that an advanced education was becoming more important to a successful career at the time they established this fund. The Ringles wanted to aid as many area students as possible in obtaining a college education.

Rowland Donor Advised Fund (A) – Established by Fred and Karen Rowland to recommend grants to the Community Foundation’s Board of Directors that align with the charitable dreams and values of the Rowlands.

Sacred Heart Catholic Church Endowment Fund (D) – Established by an anonymous donor to provide financial support to Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Warsaw and its religious and charitable endeavors.

Sacred Heart Elementary School Tuition Endowment (D) – The children of Jerry and Savina Kralis established this endowment fund in honor of their parents, to fund tuition assistance for students attending Sacred Heart Elementary School.

Sacred Heart Scholarship Fund for Post Secondary Education (S) – Established by Father Terry Fisher to assist an active member of Sacred Heart Parish, who is a graduate or a senior student of an area high school, in obtaining an undergraduate college or vocational degree.

Shirley and Wendell Sadler Memorial Scholarship Fund (S) – Established by friends and family of the Sadlers. This non-traditional scholarship fund will provide scholarship assistance to adults seeking higher education. Shirley was a former member of the Community Foundation’s Board of Directors.

The Salvation Army “Friends of the Army” Fund of Kosciusko County (D) – Founded by the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary of Warsaw.

The Lyn Sasso Memorial Scholarship Fund (S) – Friends and family established this fund in memory of Lyn Sasso. This fund provides assistance to Warsaw Community High School graduates.

George and Gertrude Schiff Charitable Endowment Scholarship Fund (S) – Established by Mrs. Schiff to benefit non-traditional students needing financial assistance to begin or return to college.

The Pamela Schumm Excellence in Biology Education Fund (D) – Established by anonymous donors in honor of Pamela Schumm, a teacher at Wawasee High School for 41 years. The fund will support the work of the teachers in Wawasee’s Biology Department, with special consideration given to the work of new teachers of Biology.

Shane Family Memorial Scholarship Fund (S) – Sisters, Eleanor Shane Resler and Pat Shane, established this fund in memory of their parents, Bertram and Hilda Baum Shane. The faculty of Warsaw Community High School select a graduating senior who has been most effective in furthering cooperation, fellowship and understanding among his or her fellow students.

Jackie Rae Shilling Tucker Memorial Scholarship Fund (S) – Established by Teresa Craig in memory of her aunt to provide scholarships for graduates of Warsaw Community High School who participated in the high school choir, demonstrate financial need, maintain a C average or above, demonstrate community involvement or work a part-time job, and who are family oriented.

The Tim & Nancy Shoemaker Art & Physical Education Endowment Fund (S) – Established by retired school teachers, Tim and Nancy Shoemaker, to award two scholarships annually to Warsaw seniors at the recommendation of high school department heads. An award is made to one PE student and one Art student.

The Smiths were lifetime Mentone residents. This fund will provide support to the Bell Memorial Public LIbrary in Mentone.

Frank D. and Geraldine “Jerry” L. Smith Memorial Fund for the Lawrence D. Bell Aircraft Museum, Inc. (D) – Established by Jeff and Michelle Bormet, niece and trustees of the estate of Frank and Jerry Smith. The Smiths were lifetime Mentone residents. Charlie was a long-time football coach for Tippecanoe Valley High School (TVHS) and Scott was a talented student athlete at TVHS.

Max Truex Memorial Scholarship Fund (S) – Memorial gifts from friends and family of this popular Warsaw High School athlete made this scholarship fund possible, which is awarded annually to a senior from Warsaw Community High School.

*Turtle Toes Fund (F) – Created by Jeanne Grossnickle to help children and adults who have need of financial assistance as a result of an injury, disease or medical condition. Jeanne is a former Community Foundation board member.

Everett & Ethel Vandermark Scholarship Fund (S) – Established by Mrs. Vandermark to provide scholarship assistance to graduates of local high schools who are enrolled in medical training.

The Fleda C. Vandeveer Educational Endowment Fund (S) – Ms. Vandeveer attained degrees from both Manchester College and Ohio University. She was a grade school teacher for more than 35 years. Her generosity in providing the gift that created this Endowment will help numerous students from Milford to obtain higher education to become teachers.

*The Vast Difference Fund (F) – Established with a gift from the Bertsch Family Charitable Trust to provide health related services to low-income men from Kosciusko County seeking information, education, counseling, and other medical services relating to contraception, that they otherwise could not afford.

Margaret Ann Voirol Memorial Endowment (D) – This fund was established in memory of Margaret Ann Voirol, a longtime vocal music teacher at Warsaw High School, by Jane Glover McGinnis. The fund will provide support to the Warsaw Comunity High School Choral Department.

Wagon Wheel Theatre Endowment Fund (D) – Established to provide an annual source of operating support for the Wagon Wheel Theatre. The nonprofit theatre is one of Indiana’s oldest, and is well known for providing high quality professional theatrical productions and concerts from a round stage.

Westminster Endowment Fund (Ag) – Established to help preserve this historic building in Winona Lake.

Wilson-Rhodes Memorial Scholarship Fund (S) – Established in memory of Steven Rhodes and Jane Wilson-Rhodes by their friends and family. The scholarship is granted to a student graduating from Wawasee High School who will attend Indiana University.

*Dallas Winchester Memorial Scholarship Fund (S) – Established in memory of Dallas Winchester, who was a longtime member of the Wawasee School Corporation Board. This scholarship will assist Wawasee seniors in pursuing vocational or technical training after high school.

The Virgil E. Wise and Jewel A. Wise Fund for Children (F) – Created by Virgil Wise to provide financial assistance to children who are suffering from a medical condition.

The Marilyn S. Wolferman Charitable Unitrust (+) – Upon maturity, this trust will fund a scholarship endowment in honor of Marilyn and Don Wolferman for Wawasee High School graduates and will provide one time gifts to several Milford charities.

Women’s Fund (F) – This fund was created by gifts from a local group of women who wanted to make a difference in the lives of women. Together, the women act as an advisory group helping to recommend grants impacting women to the Community Foundation’s Board.

Women’s Health Fund (F) – Established to make mammograms available to low-income Kosciusko County women.

*Mark & Janice Workman Charitable Fund (A) – Established by Mark and Janice Workman to support charitable causes that align with their values.

The WPOA – David F. Lichtenauer Memorial Scholarship Fund (S) – Established by the Wawasee Property Owners’ Association and the Lichtenauer family in honor of David Lichtenauer. The fund provides college and university scholarships to graduates of Wawasee High School.

*Jerry and Michelle Yeager Charitable Fund (A) – Established by Community Foundation Board President, Jerry Yeager, and his wife Michelle, to support charitable causes that align with their values.

Tracey Ann Yeager Memorial Scholarship Fund (S) – Established by gifts from many friends and family members of Tracey Yeager, in her memory. Tracey passed away on May 31, 2010 from cancer. She served in the U.S. Navy as a helicopter pilot earning the rank of lieutenant. The fund will provide scholarships to young women pursuing non-traditional carer paths.

Youth Recruitment & Retention Hunting, Fishing, Trapping, and Shooting Sports Education Fund (F) – Established to support youth education for people 17 years of age or younger in outdoor recreation and conservation activities, with primary focus on fair chase hunting, fishing, trapping and recreational shooting sports activities in Kosciusko County. The fund will assist local not-for-profit youth programs in Kosciusko County in conducting these outdoor recreation and conservation activities.

Kailey Lynn Zehr Memorial Scholarship Fund (S) – This fund was established by an anonymous donor and funded by both the original donor and many friends and family of Kailey Zehr. Kailey was a student at Edgewood Middle School when she died after battling a lengthy illness. She will be remembered for her kindness, perseverance, happy demeanor and love of life.
