Donor Stories
Posted by: Angie Danko 2 years ago
Steve Watson grew up in North Manchester, where he graduated from high school. He then earned a degree in aviation from Purdue University and moved to Warsaw in 1987 with his wife, Rebecca (Becky) Watson.
Steve spent the bulk of his career (27 years!) at Zimmer, working as a corporate pilot. Besides flying, Steve loved motorsports, especially the Indianapolis 500. He attended the race 50 times throughout his life. Steve also spent time outdoors. “He loved nature,” Becky remembers.
Steve and Becky raised two children: Nicole and Curt. Throughout his life, Steve was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Warsaw. “My husband loved helping people,” Becky said. “Steve was a positive person for his entire life.”
In memory of her husband, Becky established a scholarship fund at the Community Foundation that provides scholarships for students pursuing a career in aviation.
