Warsaw student, Finn Bailey, awarded Rick and April Sasso Family Scholarship
The Kosciusko County Community Foundation is pleased to announce that Finn Bailey, Warsaw Community High School, is the recipient of the Rick and April Sasso Family Scholarship. This marks the first year of awarding this annual scholarship.
The Rick and April Sasso Family Scholarship may provide full-tuition for one year of study at any Indiana accredited nonprofit college or university. Past recipients will be given the opportunity to renew the scholarship each year for up to four years of undergraduate study. The Community Foundation appoints a committee to lead a blind review process of all applications.
The criteria for the scholarship included:
• Graduating senior from Warsaw Community High School;
• Pursuing an academic and/or technical honors diploma at the end of their junior year of high school;
• Maintaining a GPA of 3.8 or higher at the end of their junior year of high school;
• Intending to pursue a full-time course of study leading to a bachelor’s degree at an accredited public or private nonprofit college or university in Indiana.
Rick Sasso is a graduate of Warsaw Community High School. He is an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in spinal surgery and is the President of Indiana Spine Group. Together, Rick and April, have generously supported many charitable causes in Indiana, including projects in Warsaw and Winona Lake.
Finn Bailey
Finn Bailey is a senior at Warsaw Community High School. He will graduate with honors in May 2025 and plans to pursue a degree in architecture.
“I have looked forward to continuing my education into the realm of architecture for as long as I can remember,” said Finn in one of his essays. “Creating art has always captivated me and there is no better way to use that skill than through architecture. I am passionate about building a stronger, more unified community and look forward to making a difference in our world.”
One reference said of Finn, “This applicant is an outstanding candidate for a scholarship due to a remarkable blend of academic excellence, leadership, and commitment to community service.”
He was a member of both the WCHS Men’s Soccer and Golf Teams, Kosciusko County Teen Court, National Honor Society, Tiger Leadership Council, National History Day, and the WACC Entrepreneurship Bootcamp Club.
Finn was celebrated with a surprise award ceremony on November 21 at Warsaw High School.
